Don't let Nicolas Cage's name on the marquee scare you away, this is the director of The Crow and Dark City given free reign, and it is amazing, assuming you accept a revelation about 2/3 of the way in. The ambition here is pretty staggering by the end.
Having just seen this, I predict viewers of it will fall into two camps: unabashed love or extreme dislike save for a few scenes (the plane and subway scenes come to mind). How you accept the final third will determine which camp you are placed in. I was confused by Ebert giving it four stars and then hearing others whose opinions I also often agree with eviscerate it, but after seeing it this makes total sense.
I fall into the unabashed love category, and absolutely did not expect to going in. My brother Doug felt the same way. I think Cage actually gives a good performance, and feel like most of the criticism on his part is either residual from other aspects of the movie people don't like or just bandwagon stuff that he admittedly wrought upon himself with multiple disasters such as LaBute's Wicker Man.

The Hangover (2009)
I have to start by saying that my friends and I have been talking about this movie and watching the trailers for weeks, so our expectations were really high.
With that being said, this movie didn't just live up to the expectations, it was one of the funniest movie I have seen in a long time. Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, and Ed Helms are all very good. Galifianakis steals the show at times. It is hilarious from the beginning. Mike Tyson brings a few laughs and Mr. Chow (Ken Jeong) is a great twist. Do yourself a favor and go see this movie, it is worth every penny. Just got out of the midnight showing and I'm going back tomorrow night.

Angels and Demons (2009)
Symbologist Robert Langdon (Hanks) is called to Rome to help decipher the mystery behind the Illuminati before a new science experiment blows up the city.
The Da Vinci Code broke records in 2006 but for the vast majority of Dan Brown followers it did not do his award winning book justice and though running at a good 2 and a half hours, seemed to bore many.
Having read the book, I was perhaps one of the few who enjoyed Tom Hanks and Audrey Tautou attempt to solve the mystery of the murder in the Louvre but for Angels and Demons the scales were raised once more as lead star and director return.
Having asked around, most people seem to prefer Angels and Demons to The Da Vinci code for an entertaining read and it seems as critiques and fans, whilst still not fully justified, prefer this latest adaptation to the 2006 release.
This Howard picture certainly has a more clinical energy and exercise to it as unlike Da Vinci, Tom Hanks' Robert Langdon has only one night to solve the mysterious activities of the forgotten Illuminati in the Vatican and because of the time limitations, the action and desperation up the ante and deliver an excitement that certainly beats The Da Vinci code but also generates plenty of twists and stunning murder sequences.
The interesting factor of this 2009 release is the constant elements being justified for the murders. Earth, wind, water and fire are all included in drastic and powerful sequences to pronounce a feeling of overall power to the situation.
This really does justify the tag of thriller with a constant tension and sharp drama with the issues and beliefs once more given a full working over.
Just like 3 years ago, there are many debates and discoveries of symbols once believed to be lost forever and Langdon is again the key character to show everyone the light in and amongst the controversy of other pressing circumstances.
It is fair to say Dan Brown is a complex writer; he certainly likes to cram issues and dramas in amongst his action and thrilling sequences. As well as trying to discover the Illuminati, there is also the scenario of the election of a new pope, the dealings with a new scientific experiment and the power of Religion is again present. All interesting to discover and listen to, if occasionally the debates and dialogue tend to send your mind drifting but as there is so much in the novel, this was always likely.
Ron Howard, who kept a frankly ordinary type of direction rolling in Da Vinci, returns in perhaps the worst way possible. His jerky ever moving camera styling does nothing to keep the pressure up, and we can never fully accept what is happening on screen thanks to this frankly awfully portrayed style. He is certainly no Paul Greengrass and this is by no means Bourne.
Slick and stylized this is faster and more interesting than Da Vinci

Anaconda 4: Trail Of Blood (2009)

I saw this on Sci-Fi Channel on it's first air date, and I must say it certainly exceeded my expectations after seeing it's predecessor. The acting in this movie is actually pretty well done; something I was not expecting. Gore is also 20 times better, way better than 3's ketchup packet squeeze effect.
But, as always giant snake movies have their cons. Don't expect anything special in the graphics department- the snake in the first Anaconda was even better than the one in this movie. The story is also exceedingly unbelievable, and at some points just plain dumb; the snake regenerates it's head after it gets popped...
The conclusion? This installment in the series is pretty much on par with the first one. It has plenty of action, and for once not every supporting character dies (cliche repeated in every Sci-Fi movie). Only watch this only if you have an open mind or if you are in the mood for some good cheesy fun.

Underworld Rise of the Lycans (2009)
To begin bluntly, I am a fan of the Underworld series, so have no delusion about that. It's not so much that I am an action junkie, or am hot for Kate Beckinsale (as hot as she may be), no, it is that I am thoroughly impressed and somewhat enthralled by the whole vampire/werewolf world and its complex history that Len Wiseman and company have conceived.
Laid out in flashbacks in the first Underworld film, the shady history of vampire betrayal and the beginning of the so called blood feud between the bloodsuckers and their once slaves, The Lycans, was wrought. Helmed by a new director, Patrick Tatopolous, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans delves deep into the lore and shady doings of one of the first vampire covens and their cruel treatment of the monstrous werewolf servants, born of the first true 'Lycan', Lucien. As the Underworld films have progressed their core has only become more rewarding and labyrinthine. Don't be mistaken, this film will win over few converts, but the world that has been created throughout the trilogy is worthy of praise.
A monster only be association, Lucien (Michael Sheen) is the prized pet of the vampires. His disease gives the gift of slaves and daytime guardians for the death dealers, lead by the powerful Victor (A fiery Bill Nighy) and graced by the presence of his beloved daughter Sonja (Rhona Mitra who takes over in the absence of Beckinsale). A forbidden love exists however between Sonja and Lucien and the deceptions and betrayal that ensues leads to a rebellion of the Lycan slaves against the silky vampires that will last a thousand years.
The narrative plays out in almost a Shakespearian way, with the powerful father and the forbidden affair. Backed with constant action and delightfully over the top and charismatic performances by Sheen and Nighy, this instalment while beginning to wear simply from overindulgence, is a boatload of fun, and constantly entertaining. If anything drags the film down, it is that certain portions of this story have been drilled home by the sequel Underworld: Evolution and it begins to wear on the audience. The film, despite its new director, looks exactly like the previous films and the look suits the medieval theme nicely. With such an elaborate history at it back, this instalment mixes a few things points up, but that isn't to say Evolution fudged them up. I'm sure upon even greater scrutiny, even more elements of the narrative would begin to erode, but I for one am happy to take it as is and appreciate the fable in its entirety.
Underworld: Rise of the Lycans is certainly nothing completely new, but style and characters go a long way in a film like this, and with larger then life characters who are impossible not to hate and love in turn, the film achieves a new level of gravitas. So, if you haven't been bitten by the Underworld curse yet, you may want to take a look, because if loving werewolves and vampires duking it out at the castle wall in the name of love is wrong, then I don't want to be right.

The Last House On The Left (2009)
I'll keep this short and sweet. This was gruesome and twistedly faithful to the original in spirit and effect. I totally expected to be the one tortured when watching, well I should have left my preconceived notions at the door. The acting was sharp, the plot devices made just enough sense that it never broke my disbelief and I admittedly had to briefly look away from some scenes.
The setup was stellar and the ending did not disappoint. I give it a 7 but if it was possible I would have given it a 7.5.
Good for the genre and great by comparison of other remakes.
I would definitely suggest it to anyone that enjoys the genre.

Imagine That (2009)
This movie is OK not the best Eddie Murphy movie but I got a laugh of it, The storyline isn't the best but not the worst it is worth seeing. Its been a while since Eddie has been in a good movie bud this isn't a bad movie but it can be better, This is defiantly Karey Kirkpatrick's best movie. He really expresses his imagination in this movie and shows what he can do. Eddie Murphy helps the movie a lot as he alone can make me laugh, This wont be a huge hit but I would defiantly Recommend this movie it will make you laugh for sure but it isn't well written plot wise but believe me you will laugh and wanting more.
The best father-daughter relationship. I would give this movie 7/10

Fast & Furious 4 (2009)
This was a good movie. They were able to bring back all the things that made the first one great like Vin Diesel, Jordana Brewster, and Paul Walker, and let go of the things that did not work so well. All the things that you loved in the first one are here and a little more. Vin Diesel does a great job from start to finish. In parts of the movie it almost makes you want to leave your seat and cheer. For all you Paul Walker haters out there he did a good job as well.
He is like a backup quarterback in the NFL you want him to manage the game don't try to do to much just do what is takes to win. Walker is not the star of the movie, but behind the star he manages his part well. He does a good job of playing his part and not going beyond that and try to make a great performance. Walker acts within his ability. I for one am not a Walker hater so I never felt like he did a bad job, but I know there are a lot of you out there and you will be happy with his performance in this movie. Just the right blind of action and cars. For all the people that loved Han from Tokyo Drift don't get really excited, his role is only for about 3 minutes at the beginning of the movie. This is not a movie that is going to win any Academy Awards, but it is a movie that will keep you entertain for an hour and forty five minutes. Worth the movie to pay to see this one in the theater. Which is saying a lot for the way the economy is right now. It is the best one in the series.

Friday The 13th (2009) EXTENDED
I saw this film last Friday. A couple left the theater before me, that was old enough, that they must have seen the original movie in the cinema back in 1980 and I felt sorry for them. They saw a classic back in the day and today they saw one of the most stupid movie remakes ever made. I mean expectations were running high (so were mine). But they were buried on this day. Please, stop making remakes of films that are classics.
When I think of the upcoming The Thing, Last House on the Left or Hellraiser to name only a view, I feel sick to the bone. Why do you have to do something over for the second time, when it was made right in the first place. It's interesting that people (I don't know the exact demographic that this disaster was made for)like to see stupid teenagers, running around, doing drugs and getting killed (even in no exciting ways). The screenwriters have done their part ruining this movie big time by creating "characters" we, the audience, don't care about and give a damn if they are getting killed or not. The storyline was as thin as the characters and the "hero", Jared Padalecki should stick to his TV assignments.
If all remakes are following now this route, it's better to leave them be and look out for something knew. It's also strange, that Sean S. Cunningham was involved in this mess. But maybe he was more interested in making money, than caring for a franchise that he has created, because, by all means even the worst entries in the old Friday the 13th movies were a million times better then this really horrible mess.

Drag Me To Hell 2009
He early trailers for Drag Me to Hell dubbed it as (sic) "the return to classic horror", and for once at least, they are correct.
Sam Raimi manages to incorporate genuine thrills and terror using the old-fashioned format of surprise, misdirection and suggestion. As a frequent viewer of horror films, little surprises me, but in this film I was caught off-guard several times while watching it.
While the majority of the movie is kept on a serious and foreboding level, much like the original "Evil Dead", Raimi can't help but throw in elements of the absurd and slapstick during some of the more horrific scenes, thus reducing the tension and echoing the latter 2/3 of the "Evil Dead" trilogy.
WHile I have nothing against the modern trend of horror movies to provide shocks merely in the form of how much blood and gore they spill, this flick was wonderfully refreshing. It's a must-see, not just for Raimi fans, but for anyone who loves a good scary story and a great movie in general.

Terminator Salvation 2009
I've always been a fan of the Terminator series, T2 was one of the first films I can actually remember watching as a kid and comprehending the plot. As I grew older both Terminator films stayed a staple of my sci-fi cinema diet and both are landmark films in their own right.
Like a lot of people I was kinda bummed by T3, it was an okay film but a FAR cry from the first two so I was psyched for Salvation when I first heard about it, but as each successive trailer was released and the PG-13 locked into place I found myself worried that it would be a let down...
As it turns out its not as bad as I thought it would be, the action sequences are thrilling and gripping, the plot isn't all that bad and there's enough violence to make it R-Rated-ish... The acting also turned out surprisingly well with Sam Worthington (playing Marcus) and Anton Yelchin (playing Kyle Reese) being the two stand out performers. I swear there were times I Anton looked and sounded exactly like Michael Biehn who played Kyle in the original film and it was that fact (as well as a few other homages) that kept the hardcore Terminator fan in me placated...
But placation isn't the same as satisfaction, the film has its flaws, the bad language you'd expect in a post-apocalyptic world is suppressed by the PG-13 rating and Bale delivers an overly dramatic performance to a character we learn far too little about other than what we know happened to him as a kid... My other major complaint is the CGI used for the Terminators themselves, it really didn't look good and I found myself praying for them to go back to Practical Effects where things look solid and real...
Remember how relentless the Terminator was in the first film?? Well that is carried over here, these guys won't stop until their processor is dead, but since they're CGI for the most part it lessens the feel of real danger... Somewhere deep inside the Terminator fan in me was wishing to return to that dark skull covered gritty landscape we saw glimpses of in the first Terminator (this definitely isn't the future Connor's Mother warned him about)
Hardcore terminator fans might want to avoid this, it was better than T3 but still pretty far off the quality of the first two, still, if its a Summer Blockbuster you want then go see Terminator Salvation, you could do a lot worse...

Ready or Not 2009
Ready or Not (2009) DVDRip
Imagine a bunch of buddies who end in Mexico because they jumped out a plane whose pilot couldn't handle the map. All of them have been on a stag night and now find themselves guest of a local crime lord.
This is worse (Or at least at bad) as it sounds - there is nothing here to lift this out of the mainly boring category - the script hasn't got the spark necessary, the plot is turgid, and while everyone is engaged in the project (SO it get's a 2 from me) it just is flat out non-entertaining.
I can't work out why this got made when better scripts and better projects don't: it isn't original, it isn't fun or funny, character development is sketchy at best, and all in all, it's just plain boring.
I guess someone will love this but not me.

Slaughter 2009
Slaughter 2009 DVDRip XviD-MoH
Not knowing anything about movies going in can always lead to surprises, but imagine how surprised I was when I sat down to this one and found out it was “inspired by true events” and is set in Atlanta. I had no idea. Of course, the true events thing immediately put me in mind of last years entry “Borderland”. Although this is not as good as that, it isn’t the worst of the bunch.
It opens with us seeing a person being tied up, dragged through a field, and then stop at a platform of some sort. While this is happening an old church song is playing from a record player in the background. We get a good view of the nightly landscape of a large farmhouse and the body a several yards in front of the house, resting on a small dock of a lake. Then we see a figure tie off the ropes to a cement block and into the water the body goes. This is where it then cuts to Atlanta and two young girls are in a truck trying to convince one girl, Faith (Amy Shiels), that this is a good move for her. We find out she is trying to escape an abusive relationship with her boyfriend Jimmy from North Carolina. Her friend Cathy tells her to look at is a new start and not a new place to hide. They get to Atlanta and decide to have a night on the town before Cathy heads back. While they are out Faith notices a girl in the bar seemingly to be having boy problems of her own. She makes eye contact with the girl and swoops in with an excuse to get her out of the situation. The girl, Lola (Lucy Holt), thanks Faith and gives her her phone number and tells her she owes her one.
Faith keeps this in mind and after finding her e-mail inbox of messages from Jimmy she decides she could use a break and calls her new friend. Lola invites her out to her place, which is a pretty good size farm. Same place we saw in the opening. Lola tells her about how she has this separate house from the men that her dad built and is looking for a roommate. After having a nice day with Lola, Faith gets home. Her phone rings and she answers it to find Jimmy on the other end. She is shocked to realize that he has found her. She calls Lola back and asks if she can move in with her. Lola agrees and they go out to celebrate. Lola hooks up with some rich guy in a Ferrari and Faith isn’t too happy about this. We then see flashes of scenes similar to the opening only this time it is the Ferrari guy.
Faith wakes up and finds Lola alone, the guy gone, his car gone, but he left his Rolex. This is also when Faith notices the pigs and the slaughterhouse. She is warned to stay away from there because Lola’s dad doesn’t approve of girls down there. The two girls go out again and the same thing happens. This starts to cause Faith down a road of suspicion, but when she continues trying to get to the bottom of it, she finds out it is better to not be so trusting of others.
The acting was actually pretty good in this movie. The two girls, Shiels and Holt, really played well off of each other. They were the main focus of the movie and that overshadowed any sub par performances that may’ve been in the movie. Well until Jimmy shows up.
There were a few gruesome moments, but not a lot. I think the effect of the movie relied more on the fact that something similar to this really happened. They did have a few teeth and needle scenes that might get a cringe out of a few people. Not a whole lot in the gore category though.
This was a movie that I was really enjoying until the end. It wasn’t that the end was so bad, but it became a bit of a monologue and ended up making me feel like the people behind the movie didn’t think I’d be able to figure out the conclusion if it was just shown to me. The last part just seemed to drag on a bit and I think that is where it lost me. Not that I didn’t enjoy the movie because it is one I’ll probably own. There were also a few continuation errors. One minute Lola has a black eye, she takes a shower and then it is gone. Just little stuff kept this from being a really good movie for me. I did learn one thing though, if I need help in Decatur it is probably best not to rely on their 911 police service.

The Devils Ground 2009
The Devils Ground [2009][DVDSCR][TFE]
The Devil’s Ground opens with a blood-splattered college student, Amy (Leah Gibson), running through the woods and trying to get away from a hulking psycho trying to kill her. From there we cut to Carrie (Daryl Hannah), who is driving late at night and following the cross-country route her now-missing boyfriend took to get to Maine. After having an odd encounter with a gas station attendant (who eerily resembles the man that was chasing Amy, played by Twan Holliday) when she stops at a run-down gas station, Carrie gets back on the back roads of Pennsylvania.
Suddenly, a traumatized-looking Amy steps out onto the road and begs for Carrie’s help. As Carrie drives them to get help, she asks Amy exactly what happened. In flashbacks we see that Amy was part of a college archeological dig that hoped to find Native American remains in order to stop a gold mining operation. She and four other classmates had come out to the middle of nowhere at the direction of their environmental studies professor and to secure passing grades. Before heading to the dig site they stopped for gas and met a handless gas station attendant named Billy. He tries to warn the group not to go to “the devil’s playground,” but they just brush him off.
After experienced a strong earthquake (or the locals rocking their Winnebago) in the middle of the night, the five students begin their work early the next morning and discover many Native American skeletons. Unfortunately they also find some much more recent remains…and discover they’ve stumbled upon a killer’s dumping ground for bodies. Soon the killer is after them and begins systemically killing them.
Amy got lucky and escaped, but can she and Carrie find help before the killer tracks them down?
Obviously this movie treads some very familiar ground, but for the most part it was engaging and entertaining. With that said, it does have some major flaws that hampered my ability to completely enjoy it and it is no where near perfect. Nonetheless, let’s start with what I did like about The Devil’s Ground.
First of all, I liked how the characters were intelligent and actually had a purpose for being out in the middle of nowhere that didn’t involve sex or drugs. The fact that they were there for scientific study made me respect them much more than if they had just been there to party. Though not all the characters were likeable (yes, we get the token asshole, but at least he wasn’t some stupid misogynist), it was much easier to cheer for them because they weren’t the stereotypical young partiers looking for a weekend of debauchery. Also, all of the acting was great and there wasn’t a bad apple in the bunch!
Secondly, the production values and direction were both top notch. Despite a relatively low budget, the film looks amazing. There were some inventive camera angles used and lots of different point of view shots kept things interesting. Director Michael Bafaro really knows how to keep your attention and keep the pace moving along with some great camera tricks. These tricks gave the film a slick, professional feel that is usually sorely lacking in independent productions. The stylish look of the film is reason enough to watch it!
Thirdly, while the basic backwoods slasher story has been done to death, there are several touches to the story that make The Devil’s Ground unique. One is that the killer used not only a machete, but also a gun. This may have taken some fun out of the kills, but it also made the killer much more menacing and much more of a threat. Also, I loved the interplay between the students, Billy and the killer. The dialogue was believable and the characters even discussed any bad decisions they made (like why one of them left his girlfriend to die instead of facing the killer). It just felt so much more well-made than the usual brainless backwoods slasher flicks.
Now, on to the negative aspects of the film, The Devil’s Ground really needed a bit more oomph to set it apart from standard backwoods slashers. I know I just said it was much more intelligent and believable than most horror films (which is true), but nonetheless it still lacked that special something to make it stand out. The ending tries to be different from most slashers, even delving into the supernatural, but it just didn’t work. The “twist” is predictable and the ending is confusing and unsatisfying, pretty much ruining any momentum and suspense the previous hour and a half had established. After the abrupt ending I was left wondering what could have been had the climax not been botched so badly. Also, the gore was nonexistent. I’m not asking for buckets of blood, but something more than a severed hand and body engulfed in flames was desperately needed. Some cool, cringe-worthy deaths really would have made this film much more memorable.
I’m pretty evenly split on The Devil’s Ground. On the one hand, I was well entertained for most of the film, but on the other hand, the ending was a real let-down and overall the film wasn’t that memorable. If you’ve got about 90 minutes to kill, The Devil’s Ground is good for a rental, but go ahead and stop it at the 65 - 70 minute mark to avoid the abrupt ending!

American High School 2009

Where do I start? I feel ashamed that I wasted the precious minutes of my life watching this movie past the 10th minute. First, most of the actors in this movie do not even deserve the title of "actor". It felt like the person who casted this movie just asked some of his best friends to be in the movie or picked people off the street. Seriously, this was some of the worst acting I have ever seen.
The next thing you'll notice is that the sound was totally amateur. It's as if they shot the movie with a video camera and didn't even think to use a microphone. But you can tell there was a sound mixer-- who probably works at a dry cleaning shop for his day job. There are some scenes where you're supposed to believe there is a crowd watching and you can just hear how cheesy the crowd sound effect is. Really, the sound on this film is embarrassing.
The plot. Who cares? This movie was made as if they just got together and made it up as they went along. I've heard Chinese torture is pretty bad, but it ain't got nothing on this movie.

Grudge 3 2009
I had very low expectations for this film. I had read some of the reviews on here (good and bad) and wasn't holding out much hope. If you've fallen in love with the Ju-On and Grudge films in the way I have in the past month your curiosity will probably get the better of you. That's what happened to me, but being prepared for a bad movie I was able to enjoy it for what it was.
Yes it changes the storyline, yes it's cashing in, yes parts of it were illogical, but something about it wasn't that bad. I'm not going to even bother going in to all the ways it's wrong because I'm sure people must have done that many times already on here. It wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen or even close. For me the Grudge 2 still had the power to scare but here the fear factor was gone completely which was a great shame. Some die hard fans of the series are saying it's just as scary as the first two, some people are even saying it's one of the scariest films they've seen which makes me question their mental age. If they found this film scary I don't know how they even got to it because by all rights the first two would have scared them so much they'd have probably had a heart attack - literally scared to death... This film wasn't even slightly scary but something about it was still quite enjoyable. Maybe it's just because I love the series so much, maybe it was the characters, the pace, I don't know, and sitting through the whole thing was worth it for the last twenty minutes which I found to be actually pretty exciting. It's no surprise to hear rumours that Grudge 4 is in the works , and after that Grudge 5 is a pretty safe bet, they'll be cashing in on this series 'til the cows come home. W*nkers. Thanks

Hallettsville 2009
Hallettsville 2009 DVDRip XviD-VoMiT
Hallettsville is a rare gem that starts off well and fizzles out into a forgettable, underachieved conclusion. It's in an indie with the only name actor being Gary Busey, whose recent filmography probably won't get the attention of most viewers looking for an above average horror movies. Alas, I gave it a shot… online at Netflix, and I was pleasantly surprised. I expected a b horror movie with a predictable plot, lame acting, and lousy cinematography. But the Hallettsville has a lot of talent tucked into it's indie bundle.
First time director Andrew Pozza directed and co-wrote this supernatural thriller which has a very standard plot: A group of college aged friends go to one of the kids' parents' cabin where they later reveal that 'something bad happened.' It's true what they say: it's all been done before, but it's not the story you tell, it's how you tell it, and Pozza and company do it well… for a while.
The cinematography and sound design were the two things that I enjoyed the most about this film. The acting was solid as well accomplished. The dialogue was good for the most part and Busey's small role was well played and memorable. Most of the cast was solid as well and I couldn't help but notice one of them strangely resembled a young Johnny Depp. I wouldn't be surprised if his face shows up in a mainstream film one of these days.
Hallettsville is full of memorable scares and jumps, but the film becomes increasingly B-movie when the killing starts and we don't really see much of anything. The ending was just lame, and what the hell is up with the book? It brought nothing to the story, it only reminded me how similar to The Evil Dead this film was and it mislead me into believing that things would be better explained when they ultimately weren't.
However, this film deserves a lot of credit for the atmosphere it credited, but the third act really hurt the quality and turned my expectations belly up.

The Obama Deception (2009)
Alex Jones, for those who don’t know, is the self-described “tip of the spear” in the Infowar. Jones is a nationally-syndicated radio host with a daily listening audience in the hundreds of thousands and he has directed and produced over 20 documentary films. The most recent film, The Obama Deception, could in time be remembered as one of the most important films in our history.
The movie is indicative of being rush-released, which it clearly was. Timing is everything. Mr Jones knew what he was doing in getting this film out to the masses fast and I would venture is evidence of its critical timeliness at this moment in history. Never have so many people been so tantalizingly close to waking up their fellow man to the realities of the world we live in. This film may be the one to finally do that.

Frame Of Mind (2009)
Frame of mind is good. its a b movie but don't let that put you off. the acting has its ups and downs but i would say more ups. when i saw the plot description on IMDb i thought "god no not another kennedy film" well i got a pleasant surprise it had me interested the whole movie through, the idea is good and quiet possible and believable and for a subject matter that has been done time and time again i think it was a brave movie to attempt.
I consider myself a harsh critic of bad quality b movies and very rarely comment on this site but i think this movie apart from some of the acting flaws and low budget, had a lot of heart...hope you enjoy.

Bled 2009
Once again, I fell for it, in my roots I crave a fun and gory horror film, even a vampire one. Even if it's stupid, as long as I get my fun gore in the mix, I'm a happy camper, it doesn't take much. So I saw the cover of "Bled" over at Hollywood Video and was kind of curious what it was about, it looked kind of interesting, so I decided to rent it. Why? Why do I always fall for it? Not only did this movie not fulfill the satisfaction I needed for my gore and senseless violence and nudity, but I was bored out of mind. This movie has the kahoonies to say it's a vampire movie and it's really not! I'm so close to going back to the store and begging for money back because this is one of the rare times I actually turned the movie off.
An artist meets a vampire, I think, dunno, I'm still trying to figure out what the heck he was but his name was Reinfield, so I'm assuming maybe he's a cockroach eating guy who likes to freak people out? I think, I dunno. Anyways, he thinks the artist has a certain flare for darkness, so he gives her a drug to go into an alternate fantasy where a vampire exists and needs blood to become alive? I think, I dunno. So her friends get excited and decide they wanna try the drug too, I think, I dunno. So after they decide to try the drug, things get weird, the fantasies are real, I think, I dunno, and the vampire is now enjoying the will big breasted girls in scandly clad clothing. I think, I dunno. But a couple of the girls really end up being vampires? I think, I dunno.
Sorry for all the "I dunno's", this is possibly one of the worst reviews I'm going to write, but that's because this movie was just awful, boring, and confusing. I love just seeing these wanna be actors who you can tell are waiters looking for that "big break". Not too smart that they fell in the cliché of the horror genre, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, in this case, they really should have read the script. Because the movie, the look, the feel, the acting, everything about this movie was just bad, I really recommend that you just pass the movie if you see it at your video store. This possibly could have been an interesting movie with it's concept of a different dimension, but why did they pick this director to display his "creativity" if he even has any? This was a bad movie, just stay away.

Valkyrie R5 2009

IT is a bitter testament that World War II and the Nazi period continue to assert an overwhelming power on our collective historical and cultural memory and imagination.
The Nazi perpetration of the Holocaust and control of much of Europe comes as close as we can imagine to a moment in time where pure evil was triumphant.
We feel the impacts in all manner of ways even now, not least of which is through major films about these times still being released on a monthly basis.
The latest is Valkyrie, starring Tom Cruise, which is based on the true story of an almost successful attempt by elements of the German army to assassinate Hitler.
Cruise plays German war hero Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg, who was badly wounded while fighting in Africa.
Upon his arrival back in Berlin in 1943, he joins with a number of disaffected senior officers in an audacious plot that will not only kill Hitler, but sufficiently neutralise his private armies and powerful henchmen.
The plot aims to use “Operation Valkyrie” -– Hitler’s own emergency plan to sustain the Nazi regime through use of the Reserve Army -– against the dictator. (The name Valkyrie, of course, comes from Richard Wagner’s opera.)

Mammoth 2009
Now that Moodysson is back from the grave (oh, but what a fine grave it was) there is ridiciously high hopes for this first international production. It usually takes about five to fifteen minutes before I get tangled up in his movies, this time though it toke almost half an hour. Mammoth is of course more complex, with much more going on at the same time in different parts of the world, than his other works.
Or not more complex, maybe just wider. Nevermind; it's a fine piece of cinema, great storytelling and speaks grimly to us about the world we're raping, the time we're wasting and the people suffering becaurse of our western lifestyles. Mostly it's about the children who are crushed in the middle of our lost struggle to make a life, buy more stuff or just to survive. Does that make sense? The movie does, in a sad way.

Babysitter Wanted (2009)

I didn't know what to expect when hearing about this movie so much and thought it was going to be like When A Stranger Calls, but it was so much more. I really liked the twists and thought the filmmakers did a terrific job especially for low budget. I particularly liked the use of lighting, photography and set design.

17 Again 2009 400MB TSRip.x264-Mkv
Don't feel sorry for 17 Again. No matter how bad it is it will make millions of dollars all because of one person, Zac Efron. But 17 Again wasn't bad at all. It was funny, heartwarming and Zac Efron is a better actor then High School Musical made him out to be.
This is obviously made for teenage girls. Any girl who likes Zac Efron will love this. They make him into a prince charming that even i like. As Zac Efron says the cheesy lines you can't help but think how much they are milking it. Zac Efron delivers his character very well and Efron proves himself a decent actor.
This is a must see for any teenage girl. It has the cheesy love story and some light comedy to go with it. Zac Efron has a good career ahead of him. Check it out if you like this type of thing. Just sit back and enjoy. I did but i felt like there was something missing.

This is the first time I am leaving a comment about a movie. I should have done this many times when I was satisfied or blown away by a really good piece of work like the recent Oscar-nominated films.
When I saw the trailer for this, I thought it was a rip-off of Eagle Eye. But copycats are common in Hollywood and I wanted to see Shane West again whom I adored in "A Walk To Remember".
What a disappointment! Shane's acting is lousy! I was hoping he would have matured by now. I believe he still belongs to teeny-bopper roles and he seriously needs an acting coach before he ruins any more in the future. I cannot enjoy a movie regardless how good the plot is if the lead actor fails to deliver. You can have an easy plot or a movie with hardly any special effects but if performance was outstanding, I will give that a 10 (case in point- Clint Eastwood films; Leonardo DiCaprio's acting.) Ed Burns doesn't help either - his voice together with Shane West is very irritating. I don't need to see good-looking men with no substance, no thanks.
Honestly, I didn't bother to finish the movie. I couldn't bring myself to waste any more time with it. I have no idea why Ving Rhames and Martin Sheen agreed to support this.
Watch this if you have nothing better to do.

The Sniper 2009 DVDRip XviD CoWRY
If not for the picture scandal, this film would have been released about a year ago, and would likely have solidified Edison Chen's position as box office draw given his stellar performance in crime-action flicks like Dog Eat Dog and Blood Brothers, and pop idol fare such as Initial D. But we know what had happened over the span of a year, though I suppose the decision to hold this film back would have helped it in increasing the curiosity surrounding this, given his last / first performance since the scandal. After all, the producers have to make the best out of the situation.
His character in Sniper is a typical Edison Chen persona – young, brash and impatient, toeing the line of the good and possessing that streak of arrogance. As OJ, he aspires to be the top shooter amongst the SDU Sniper Unit, and is mentored by the team leader Hartman (Richie Jen, who also starred as a sharpshooter in Johnnie To's Exiled) who discovered him during a mission, and is impressed by the upstart. Given the attributes of a sniper – confidence, decisiveness and ruthlessly accurate, egos are swelled and clashes are part of the game, where while it's a team effort, you can't deny those strong individual desire to excel above the rest.
The unfinished business of the earlier generation comes back to haunt the team in the form of the disgraced, and once top shooter Lincoln (Huang Xiaoming), who in a rash, negligent act gets sentenced to imprisonment, and upon release swears revenge on his once buddies. For a moment there was a tussle for the apprentice ala Star Wars style, where the young one found his training under his mentor too stifling and never appreciative of his abilities, and on the other, darker side, becomes seduced by sexier techniques which seem to be the path toward instant results and glory.
But alas the story unfortunately becomes quite fluffy, with the dramatic moments just excuses to string the action sequences together. The runtime under 90 minutes also provided a feeling that the film has been super summarized, given a lot of sub plots being introduced briefly, but never really reaching second base, especially with the relationships of the snipers and the opposite sex. You would wonder why they had even bothered to devote time to this aspect, just to know that the crazed nut Lincoln is terribly infatuated with his girlfriend, OJ's girlfriend is a one scene wonder, and Hartman's estranged wife lies comatose most of the time, waking only to shed tears and raise her voice. I guess in a sniper's life, the only "wife" they take care of, as in the prologue, is their rifles, to protect it with their life or professionally, they're screwed.
Dante Lam's star has been shining rather brightly, and I have enjoyed his recent effort in Beast Stalker. Here, he crafted some wonderful sniper action scenes without resorting too much on the looking-through-the-scope syndrome, striking a balance in being instructional, yet adequately paced to be tension-filled. What I appreciated is his fusion of that psychological element a sniper brings to the table, of the ability of how one man well hidden, and well trained, can take out a platoon or company, because of that element of fear that is introduced. Too bad for the many cardboard supporting villains and victims though, and that strange need to CG some dark clouds and fake lightning to drape many scenes.
Undoubtedly the show belongs to the ensemble cast in oozing machismo as they do battle, but you can't help but to feel that it is Edison who's pulling in the crowds in what could be his last hurrah. In a cruel twist of irony, his character here can't wait to talk to and provide snide remarks to the media, which is a far cry in the real situation he's in now. One can only wonder how things would have turned out if not for that moment of accidental folly.

Star Trek (2009)
As a complete and utter fan of LOST I ventured down to Sydney on Tuesday for the World Premiere of Star Trek to feast my eyes on JJ Abrams new venture. I have never seen Star Trek. Not one episode, Not one movie. Yet the idea of JJ Abrams attempting to breathe creative life into a franchise drew me to the Sydney Opera House to meet my Idol and to see just what he can do.
As the lights went down in the glorious Concert Hall and the vibrant cast and crew thanked the audience and took their seats an anxious hush swept the hall from united Trekkies and newcomers alike. As Paramount, Spyglass and the Bad Robot flitted across the screen Michael Giacchino's score pulsed through the audience and the film began.
From the first stunning visuals of a pre-Enterprise time to the final iconic sweeping space shots Star Trek is fully and wholly back, completely engaging for Fan and newcomers alike. Easily grabbing a mainstream audience and yet still retaining the in-crown jokes and nuances of the original Universe, Abrams new Trek is quite the achievement.
The actors are superb and the appearance of Leonard Nimoy and Eric Bana takes the tale to the beyond.
It is easy to see why Paramount has held on to the innovative creative Bad Robot team ready for a sequel as Trekkie storytelling is reinvented for today.
As always I was blown away with the power and creative precision that JJ Abrams brought to the screen. As a final note I recommend this film for everyone who has ever looked to dream up the impossible, to take an idea that you love onto the next level, a feat achieved by the truly glorious Abrams and crew.
A must see.
